How to Etch on Brass Cuffs

- 1). Put on Nitrile gloves.
- 2). Create a negative etching template on the adhesive laminating sheet by using a razor blade to remove the desired design. If you prefer, you can draw the design with a grease pen before cutting the plastic sheet with a blade.
- 3). Adhere the laminating sheet to the brass cuff, placing the design template over the cuff where you want it to be etched.
- 4). Paint saturated ferric chloride over the template using a paint brush.
- 5). Set a timer for 10 minutes and reapply ferric chloride when the timer is done.
- 6). Repeat the reapplication of ferric chloride until the etched design is as deep as you want it to be.
- 7). When the etched design is deep enough, carefully remove the template and rinse the cuff well in clean water. Ferric chloride is a salt and dissolves readily in water.
