How to Convert VHS Movies to DVD on a Mac
- 1). Connect a video capture device like the Roxio VHS to DVD adapter to the computer. A Mac will require a video capture card that connects via the USB port. Install the software for the device's drivers and application using the device's CD.
- 2). Hook up the VHS player to the video capture card--this will be done through either the player's RCA component or S-video connection.
- 3). Open the video capture application and insert the VHS tape into the player. Watch for the tape's video to play on the video screen in the application.
- 4). Click on the application's "Record" button to begin recording the video. Click on the button a second time to stop recording and the program should automatically give you the option to save the recording as a video file.
- 5). Insert a recordable DVD into the Mac's drive and open the DVD burning software, such as Roxio Toast.
- 6). Upload the video file to the DVD application by dragging it into the window or using the program's "import" or "upload" command. Click on the main "Record" button to burn the files to the DVD.
