How to Plan a Small Cheap Wedding
- 1). Decide where to have the ceremony and reception. Prices can range greatly, and to save a lot of money you could have your reception at a family members home at no cost. It may take awhile to prepare their home and set up, but in the long run you will save yourself a ton of money.
- 2). Prepare a list of guests you would like to invite to your wedding and reception. If you have a large list you may want to consider sizing it down to keep the cost low. While it is nice to have everyone you know attend, the cost will increase greatly with a large amount of people attending. Also, if you are having part of your wedding at someone’s home you can only fit so many people.
- 3). Decide on what kind of food you will be having at your wedding or reception. A big cost savings is for you and some family members to prepare the food yourselves. While this does take a little more work than traditional catering, it will cut your costs by over half, and your guests will enjoy the food just as much.
- 4). Purchase your wedding dress. Wedding dresses can be really expensive and have a huge range in price for you to choose from. Major wedding shops offer sales and different discounts, so you will want to check those first to see if it is possible to save some money. You may even be able to purchase a white prom dress which would look much similar to a wedding dress but for a fraction of the cost.
- 5). Decorate your own wedding invitations. If you have access to a copier or printer and have a little time and creativity you can create your own invitation for a fraction of the price. Visit your local craft stores to pick out supplies like paper and ribbon and sit down with friends and family to create your invitations.
