Pot de crème is one of the easiest and most decadent chocolate recipes ever! This chocolate pot de crème recipe features a touch of coffee, and unlike many pot de crèmes, doesn't require any baking.

Ingredients
  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate, cut into very small pieces (as small as corn kernels)
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee
  • very tiny pinch of salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 5 minutes


  • Total Time: 15 minutes


Preparation
Place the chocolate, coffee, and salt into a small heat-proof bowl, and reserve. Pour the cream, sugar, and vanilla extract into a saucepan. Place over medium flame and heat, stirring, until the mixture just begins to simmer. Turn off heat and quickly pour over the chocolate. Let stand 1 minute. Whisk until smooth and shiny. Carefully pour into four demitasse cups (about 3 oz). Refrigerate for several hours, or until thoroughly chilled. Garnish with grated chocolate or some lightly whipped cream and cocoa to mimic a cappuccino.
