Toyota Sequoia Radio Installation

    • 1). Lift the Toyota's hood and loosen the bolt holding the negative battery cable clamp to the negative battery terminal with the 10-mm wrench. Remove the cable from the terminal and set it aside. Move to the Sequoia's interior.

    • 2). Remove each of the three climate control knobs. Remove the three screws behind the knobs with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    • 3). Angle the climate vents above the stereo assembly upward. Remove the screws at the bottom of the vents with the screwdriver.

    • 4). Pull the trim panel surrounding the stereo away from the dashboard. Use a trim panel removal tool if you need assistance in separating the panel from the dashboard by hand. Remove the four screw bolts around the stereo (two on each side) with a 10-mm socket and drive.

    • 5). Slide the factory stereo from the Toyota's stereo dock. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cables from the back of the head unit and set it aside.

    • 6). Insert the installation collar (included with the aftermarket stereo deck) into the Sequoia's stereo mounting dock. Bend the tabs just inside the collar outward with a flat screwdriver. Reach into the back of the stereo dock and pull the stereo wiring and antenna cables from the back of the dock to the front of the Toyota's dash. Plug the stereo wiring connectors (white plastic) into the wiring harness adapter leads.

    • 7). Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the stereo wiring outlets on the backside of the new radio. Insert the antenna cable lead into the radio's antenna input. Slide the new deck into the installation collar until it snaps into place.

    • 8). Place the trim panel surrounding the stereo unit back around the dock. Press firmly to snap it back into place against the dashboard. Replace the screws in the vents and on the climate control panel. Replace the climate control knobs and return to the Sequoia's engine compartment.

    • 9). Place the grounding cable clamp back onto the Toyota's negative battery terminal. Tighten the cable's bolt with the wrench and close the Sequoia's hood.
