How Do I Volunteer for the Pro Cycling Challenge in Denver?
DENVER -- The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is only open to professional cyclists, but biking enthusiasts of all skill levels can volunteer for the event from August 18 - 24, 2014. The professional bike race will pass through Denver on Sunday, August 24, 2014, after a grueling 550-mile trek through the Rocky Mountains. Last year, a peleton of 3,500 volunteers lent their time to the Pro Cycling Challenge.
“The thousands of volunteers that donate their time each year play a large part in making the USA Pro Challenge so successful,” said Shawn Hunter, CEO of the USA Pro Challenge, in a statement. “Our volunteer course marshals are a major component of what makes this event seamless and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their time and energy.”
Seven Stages in Seven Days
The week-long race needs volunteers from each of the host cities. The race kicks off in Aspen, Colo., on August 18, 2014, and travels through scenic Colorado cities such as Crested Butte and Boulder before concluding in Denver. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for as many stages as they like, but only one city per stage due to logistics. Some stages start and finish in the same city, while other stages start and finish in different cities. Volunteers must be age 18 and older, and all volunteers receive a complimentary T-shirt.
“We consistently get such an overwhelmingly positive response from the teams that participate in the Pro Challenge each year,” said Rick Schaden, owner of the USA Pro Challenge, in a statement.
“The race continues to build momentum year after year and we’ll look to build on that in 2014 by welcoming back some veteran teams and introducing some new ones to the challenging terrain and beautiful scenery of Colorado.”
