What Is the Difference Between a PSP1000 & PSP3000?
- The Sony PSP-1000 and PSP-3000 have dimensions that are slightly different. The PSP-3000 is 2.7 inches tall, 6.7 inches wide and 0.7 inches deep. This portable system weighs 6.7 oz. PSP-1000 systems are 2.9 inches tall, 6.7 inches wide, 0.9 inches deep and weight 9.2 oz. Both of these systems use a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack and an AC adapter as a source of power. The battery pack for the PSP-1000 is 1,800 mAh, while the battery for the PSP-3000 is 1,200 mAh.
- Both the PSP-1000 and PSP-3000 use a liquid crystal, thin-film transistor screen. These displays are 4.3 inches large with a widescreen aspect ratio of 16-to-9. The screens have a resolution of 480 by 272 pixels and are capable of producing approximately 16,770,000 colors. The main difference between the PSP-1000 and PSP-3000 display is that the latter is a fully-transparent type of LCD with anti-reflection technology, resulting in better response time, color and contrast. In addition, the PSP-3000 has an analog video out and headset connector while the PSP-1000 does not.
- The PSP-1000 and PSP-3000 feature a PSP CPU that operates at a speed of 333 MHz. The PSP-1000 has 32 MB of system memory while the PSP-3000 has 64 MB of RAM. Both systems have a circle, square, triangle and cross key with an analog stick and an four-direction pad. Both devices also have a select, start and PS button, volume control, sound button and display button. These portable consoles play multimedia files from memory sticks, including MP3, JPEG, AVI, WMA and MPEG formats.
- Both Sony PSP portables have built-in stereo speakers, but only the PSP-3000 has a built-in microphone. The PSP-1000 includes a carrying case, hand strap, remote control headphones, a UMD demo disk and a 32 MB Memory Stick Duo while the PSP-3000 does not include these accessories. The two systems use Wireless 802.11b LAN connections, a Memory Stick Pro Duo slot, a high-speed USB 2.0 slot and a read-only, UMD drive.
