A Close-up Look at the Hitachi HSB40B16 Sound Bar
To start this photo look at Hitachi HSB40B16 Sound Bar, is both a front and rear view of the unit.
Starting on top is a front view of the HSB40B16. The sound bar is 40-inches wide and features a non-removable speaker grill, behind which are six loudspeakers (three for each of the two provided channels), supported by two ports (for extended low frequency response), and two digital power amplifiers. There are also a set of onboard controls located on the top center portion, as well as an LED status display located on the far left side.
These will be shown in a more close-up manner later in this photo profile.
The bottom photo shows a rear view of the HSB40B16, which reveals the connections that are located in the center portion.

Hitachi HSB40B16 Sound Bar - Controls
Here is a close-up photo of the onboard controls of the HSB40B16, which are located just above the center mounted menu display.
These buttons provide access to basic operations. From left to right are the power button, input select Digital 1 (optical), Digital 2 (coaxial), Bluetooth, Line 1 (RCA), Line 2 (3.5mm), and on the right are volume up and down controls. Also, if you press the volume up/down down buttons together and hold for one second, you can Mute the sound, and if held down for 10 seconds you can reset the sound bar back to its factory default settings.
All the above functions are duplicated on the provided remote control, which will be shown more closely later in this profile.

Hitachi HSB40B16 Sound Bar - Front Panel Display
Here is a close-up photo of the LED status display of the HSB40B16, which is located in the front of the unit, on the far left side.
On the left side of the display is the Hitachi Logo, which lights briefly when the user turns the sound bar on. Also, just below the Hitachi logo is the Bluetooth indicator light, which glows blue (of course!) when an active Bluetooth source is selected.
Indicators running across the top include Auto-Bass (lights up blue), Auto Volume (green), and 3D/Surr (blue).
Running along the center row are a series white lights that show what digital or analog audio source has been selected.
Moving down to the bottom row are the volume level indicators (a series of seven green lights), HA (Hearing Aid) mode (orange), and Power Indicator (blue).

Here is a look at the connections provided on the rear of the Hitachi HSB40B16 Sound Bar.
Starting on the left side is that power receptacle for the AC power adapter, follow by a service port, and subwoofer preamp output (for connection of an optional subwoofer). Continuing to the right is a set of stereo line and 3.5mm analog audio inputs. The remaining connections (moving right) are the digital optical and digital coaxial audio inputs.

Here is a look at the remote control provided with Hitachi HSB40B16 Sound Bar.
Starting on the top is the Power Button, with the input select button just below.
Moving down is a circular area that contains the main and subwoofer volume controls. The subwoofer volume controls require an external subwoofer to be connected to the sound bar.
Continuing down further are the direct access buttons for the digital and analog audio inputs, and the Mute and Bluetooth access buttons.
Finally, on the bottom, is the Hearing Aid Button (optimizes volume for the hearing impaired), the Nite Listening button (provides two settings: decreases volume while increasing bass, decreases overall volume without enhancing bass), Tone (preset equalization modes for Music, Game, and Sports listening), 3D/Surr (activates the 3D and Surround Sound modes).
