Hypnotherapy and the 3 Aspects of the Mind
Think of an iceberg.
The tip of the iceberg is like the conscious mind.
This is the part of you that deals with your awareness, attention and decision-making processes.
The subconscious is like the rest of the iceberg visible above the water.
This could be seen as your brain and nervous system, your beliefs and your memory bank.
The unconscious mind is like the part of the iceberg that is hidden from view underneath the water.
This is the largest part of the iceberg, some 89% of it! This could be seen as your creative source.
It is the part of you that originates ideas, that gives you guidance and looks to meet whatever needs and desires you have in your life.
When you learn to trust your unconscious mind completely you feel a rise in your emotional and energetic state.
You go into what I call the 'Faith State'.
This is a state where you feel positive and excited about what you are creating in your life.
It is also an optimum state to receive and act upon the ideas and guidance from your unconscious mind.
Another way of understanding the different parts of your mind is to think of a car.
The conscious mind is like the driver sitting behind the wheel.
Where ever the driver steers is where the car will end up.
The subconscious is like a very clever but occasionally neurotic backseat driver.
If the backseat driver is relaxed about what it sees then it doesn't intervene.
But if it sees something that triggers a powerful negative memory the backseat driver can grab hold of the steering wheel and steer you in a direction you don't want to go! This is how people end up creating negativity in their life.
The unconscious mind is like a highly advanced, intuitive sat nav system.
Not only does it know the best way to get somewhere, it also knows where you really want to go.
The trick is to sit in the car and have complete trust in your inner sat nav system.
That trust enables you to override any negative beliefs in your subconscious mind.
And as well as getting you where you really want to go, it helps you have a relaxing trip along the way!
