Ranbir Bollywood's New ROCKSTAR
No, it's not the IPL, it's not the Khans, certainly it's not the Bachchans, but what is rocking B-town is the arrival of a Rockstar in Bollywood in the form of Ranbir Kapoor.
Eminent director Imtiaz Ali's next venture Rockstar has already created waves in all around the cosmos in the past few weeks. The first look of Rockstar was making headlines all over with Rockstar Ranbir donning sherwani kind of jacket, with a Qawwal topi to go with it and of course when we are talking about Rockstar, we cannot forget the undividable Guitar.
The movie will see Nargis Fakhri paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Talking about Nargis Fakhri, she is half Pakistani and half Czech by ethnic origin. But what ads to her accolades are the facts that she not only appeared in America's Next Top Model season 2 but also she has emerged on the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar in 2009.
If the first look of the movie wasn't enough, the trailer of Rockstar nailed it. With Ranbir Kapoor's top notch act and not to mention, A.R. Rahman's opus music, the trailer without a doubt lived up to one's expectation and certainly would be remarked as one of the best movie trailers of the year.
The story of Rockstar revolves around Janardan Jakhar (character played by Ranbir Kapoor) a foul-mouthed, social nobody in college in Delhi. He plays an irresponsible, disobliging son at home & a struggling-musician-with-little-hope to his friends and acquaintances. But soon he wants to change all that. So when a well wisher divulges the secret behind all great success… that you have to fall in love and then break your heart. Only then will your music become better, deeper and you will be a star. Janardan is strong-minded to make it happen for him too.
Rockstar also marks the last movie of the evergreen superstar of Bollywood Late Shammi Kapoor. Bollywood still even today regards him as the true Rockstar, what an irony that the end of one Rockstar gives the rise to another.
The music for the film is scored by world famous musician A. R. Rahman replacing Imtiaz Ali's usual associate, Pritam. The soundtrack features 14 songs overall, with all lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil. Singer Mohit Chauhan notably had lent his voice for nine songs.
With so much fervor surrounding Rockstar which is set to scorch the screens on 11.11.11, Ranbir and Imtiaz along with the crew are going places promoting the film. The song ‘Sadda Haq' has become a chant amongst the masses. The song is crooned by Mohit Chauhan who is known for his romantic poignant ballads.
Ranbir Kapoor who just turned 29 this September had his hands full with movie shoots and promotions. It is said that the Rockstar had no time to celebrate his birthday and was working all day long. Well, we can only say that with films in abundance tucked under his belt, one can be certain that this 'Rockstar' is indeed a name to watch out for in the eras to come!
