- 1). Shut off the power from the main circuit box to the fuse that powers the area where the conduit is located.
- 2). Remove the cover plate of the electrical conduit with a screwdriver. Set the plate and the screws aside.
- 3). Remove the inner screws (under the face plate) that hold the actual conduit in place with a screwdriver.
- 4). Pull the conduit or socket forward, then untwist the wall wires from the wires running from the rear of the conduit.
- 5). Connect the wall wires to the wires running from the replacement conduit.
- 6). Push the conduit back into the wall and reattach the inner screws.
- 7). Hold the cover plate back in place and screw in the screws.
- 8). Flip the power breaker to that circuit back on and test it by plugging in something electric.
