The priest assures Chloe that he’ll be praying for her and gives her a kiss on the cheek before leaving. Chloe then sits down and prays to God, asking him to please send her a sign.
University Hospital
Kate initially assumes that Daniel has bad news about her test results. She asks a shuddering Daniel what’s wrong. Daniel stutters and stammers before a nurse hands him Kate’s test results. He sees them and reveals that she’s in remission.
Kate is overjoyed and throws her arms around Daniel. An emotional Kate rambles how certain the future is now and says she’s ready to embrace her second chance at life. She kisses Daniel. A flustered Kate apologizes, then takes back her apology. She recalls how she wanted to give him his freedom before and expresses how she was afraid and didn’t think she was going to make it. Thus, she didn’t want to put him through it after what he had been through with his wife. Daniel encourages her to just go tell her kids the good news.
Daniel later tells himself that it’s time for him and Chloe to break the news to Kate and Lucas, now that Kate’s in remission. He phones Chloe, who realizes that it’s her sign.
Elsewhere, Abe and Theo come to the hospital to see Lexie, who asks her son how school was today. He displays a picture of a boat he drew. Abe needs to get to work and kisses Theo goodbye, but Theo hugs him and says “No!” “Daddy stay, Mommy too,” says Theo.
A smiling Abe later tells Theo that his head is all better.
Abe agrees to take him to his OT appointment and believes the office will survive without him for a little while. Lexie believes Theo will be fine without his daddy for a little while too, insisting that they shouldn’t always give their son what he wants. Abe questions what she’s talking about, stating that Theo’s making progress. “I’m feel like I’m failing him somehow,” she sighs. “Because he doesn’t run into your arms when he first sees you, because he doesn’t say I love you. He doesn’t cry out for Mommy in the middle of the night,” assumes Abe. He assures Lexie that she’s a great mom and expresses how proud he is that she’s so dedicated to her family.
On the Pier
Chelsea meets Stephanie and demurs that she and Max shared a kiss on New Year’s, which possibly meant something. Stephanie declares that she and Max are done. Chelsea knows this, but recalls how Steph told her that she would have a serious problem if Max and Chelsea got back together. Steph assures Chelsea that she’s happy for her and Max. Chelsea thanks her, but says they’re still taking things slow. She asks how things are going for her and Philip. Stephanie admits things aren’t going at all, since Philip doesn’t know what he wants, bringing up Melanie’s name. Chelsea encourages her not to give up on Philip yet, believing that Melanie is just business. Steph affirms that she’s not taking a back seat to Melanie, since she has more self-respect than that. Chelsea advises her to give Philip an ultimatum and not let him chase after Melanie. Steph agrees that the only way she can have a relationship with Philip is to track down that “sweet little angel” and give her notice. Chelsea seems to recall a similar situation in which she fought with Melanie at the pub. Steph chuckles and wishes she could’ve been there. They agree to talk later. Steph asks Chelsea to wish her luck with Melanie. Chelsea doubts she’ll need it, since she already knows that Philip only loves one woman, which is Steph.
Back to the Hospital
Chelsea later arrives and is greeted by an enthusiastic Theo, who runs and hugs her. She offers to take Theo up to his OT session. “Family,” says Theo as he points to his parents. Chelsea assures him that he’s very lucky to have both of his parents.
Cheatin’ Heart
An intoxicated Lucas arrives and is greeted by the bartender. He offers a double vodka straight up and requests that they keep coming. Maggie arrives in the nick of time and snatches the drink right out of Lucas’s hand, asking what the hell he thinks he’s doing. Maggie wonders how he could do this after six years of sobriety. A drunk Lucas laughs and refers to Chloe as his wife NOT-to-be. Maggie isn’t the least bit amused. Lucas questions what his ex-fiancé did. “Chloe is having an affair,” reveals Maggie. Lucas doesn’t believe her, but Maggie states that he will when he’s sober. Lucas asks who Chloe’s having sex with. “Daniel. Chloe is seeing Daniel behind your back, behind Kate’s back,” she confesses. Lucas is taken aback and declares that Daniel’s a dead man. He fumes how he gave Chloe everything and she just threw it in his face. Maggie reminds him that he’s drunk and not in his right mind, but an angry Lucas disagrees. She demands his phone, but he barks at her to get off of him and yells that she’ll have to rip that phone from his fingers.
Maggie’s House
Philip comes over to to see Melanie, who asks him why he’s there. He enters and plants a surprising kiss on her. Melanie backs away, admitting that she’s a little shocked. She questions why he’s doing this, recalling how just a couple of weeks ago he hated her guts and now he supposedly has feelings for her. Philip admits that he can’t get rid of his feelings and can’t stop thinking about her. He nuzzles her neck, then says they’re a lot alike in so many ways. He kisses her and says he wants her. They smooch again. Philip backs away from a flustered Melanie and suggests they’re moving too fast. She questions if he’s having second thoughts. He says no and refers to her as very hot when she’s angry, then admits he had an epiphany and realized that he wanted her from the first day he met her. “You believe me, don’t you?” he asks. “I want to,” she replies before kissing him again. They move things over to the table as Stephanie looks inside and witnesses the passionate exchange.
