What to Choose - Saline Or Silicone Breast Implants?

When we talk about breast implants, two things will come up into our minds, saline or silicone based implants.
For the past few years, breast augmentation has become a hot topic for many women because it does not only enhance her beauty but her lifestyle as well.
A breast implant is carried out using a sac made up of elastomer.
This sac is either filled with saline or silicone.
During operation, this will be inserted underneath the breast tissue of the patient.
The size of the implants is determined by the patient herself.
Saline breast implants is composed mainly of sterile saline solution, basically sodium chloride mixed with sterile water.
On the other hand, silicone based implants uses a semi-metallic element called silicon, a very abundant element next to oxygen.
When processed, the outcome is comparable with rubber but with a gel-like property.
Either way, when you have decided to undergo for such operation, you should only do it with qualified surgeons who can perform the process flawlessly.
If you have any doubts in mind, always consult them before it is too late.
In this way, you will be informed on the pros and cons of the augmentation process and to ease out any of your worries.
Below are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using saline or silicone based implants.
Saline breast augmentation starts empty.
Meaning, the sac will be inserted surgically without any content.
This means only a small incision is needed in the breast area which is a good thing.
Another advantage of using a saline implant is when the sac raptures in the future.
You can easily notice it and tend to it immediately thereby lessening the chances of further complications.
The sac deflates and the saline solution would simply pour out.
When it comes to cost, saline implants are relatively cheaper as compared to silicon based implants and women 18 years below can avail of this surgical procedure already.
On the down side, saline implants are not that stable and could easily fold down when pressed hardly.
When it comes to being natural and softer feeling, nothing beats the silicone based implants.
Although the cost is much higher, it also offers a less visible rippling of the folds plus the implants will last longer as compared to saline.
Additionally, women can choose the shape of their breasts; be it round or tear drop shape.
However, since silicone implants are pre-filled, the incision needed under the breast area would have to be larger.
In case of ruptures, it cannot be easily noticed and when the leaks are absorbed by the tissue, it could be bothersome.
