  Though typically found in pickup trucks, 5.2-liter engines also show up in vans on occasion. The specifications vary, depending on the year, make and model of a vehicle, but the basic specifications remain the same. Throughout the years, all the major American car manufactures---including Dodge, Chrysler, Chevrolet and Ford---have produced the 5.2-liter V-8 engine.
  
  

Engine Type

• The 5.2-liter engine has a V-type eight-cylinder construction and a displacement of 318 cubic inches. The engine has a bore of 3.91 inches, a 3.31-inch stroke, a compression ratio of 9.1 to 1 and a throttle bore of 60 mm. Its cylinder blocks and cylinder heads are made of cast iron, and the engine holds up to 5 liters of oil. The 5.2-liter engine has a single cam and an overhead valve; its horsepower varies from 190 to 250 at 4,400 revolutions per minute (rpm). These engines get about 15 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
  
  

Valves

• The overhead valves have .018 maximum allowable inches of stem-to-guide clearance; the intake valves have a diameter of 1.1916 inches. The exhaust valve measures 1.6 inches in diameter and has a a seat angle of 44.25 to 44.75 degrees.
  
  

Crankshaft

• The 5.2-liter engine has a crankshaft that requires a connecting rod with a diameter between 53.950 and 53.975 mm. The crankshaft has main bearings with a diameter between 63.487 and 63.513 mm.
