Uniden Bearcat Directions
- 1). Turn the unit over and open the battery cover by placing your finger in the groove and pulling against the cover tab. Install three AA batteries into the battery chamber according to the polar indicators printed on the inside of the chamber. Plug the AC adapter cord into the DC 12-volt jack on the back of the device. Plug the pronged end into a standard AC wall outlet.
- 2). Push the connecting end of the supplied telescope antenna into the telescope antenna jack located on the back of the scanner. Tilt the antenna to the desired angle and pull the antenna out completely by grasping the top and pulling up until it no longer extends. Insert the two bare wire ends from the supplied AM loop antenna into the AM antenna jacks.
- 3). Flip the "Mode" switch (located above the up and down keys) to "AM/FM" to begin listening to channels. Push the soft button (a key with no specific assignment located at the top of the scanner below the display) to choose between "AM," "FM1" or "FM2." Push the soft key below "DIR" to access direct entry mode. Use the up or down keys to scan backward or forward through the selected channel. The scan will automatically scroll after the button is pushed and stop on channels it picks up.
- 4). Push the soft key beneath the band you desire as a first step to storing a channel to memory. Scan to the channel you wish to store. Push and hold a number button (located on the left side of the scanner) to which you wish to store the selected channel for two seconds. The scanner will move into memory mode and the channel will be saved.
- 5). Push the soft key below the band you desire, then push the soft key below "MEM" to recall a channel from memory. Push the numbered button that corresponds with the channel you want to hear.
