Ferris State University Description:


Founded in 1884, Ferris State University is one of Michigan's 15 public universities. It sits on an 880-acre campus in Big Rapids, a town in the west-central part of the state. Ferris State students can choose from 170 degree programs offered through the university's many colleges. The university has a 15 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and the curriculum emphasizes technical and professional skills that readily lead to employment.

Ferris State students can choose from roughly 220 student organizations, including fraternities and sororities, academic clubs, honor societies, and recreational groups. On the athletic front,  the Ferris State Bulldogs compete in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Ice hockey competes in the Division I Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
