The Best Basketball Player is...
Best basketball Player in the NBA?
Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love?
Would you say plays the best basketball?
This is a tough question considering the fact that each and every one of these players brings something different and unique to the table that the other player does not. Now the best basketball player cannot be defined by the guy who scores the most, or the guy who has the highest shooting percentages. The best basketball player is defined as the guy who contributes in all categories who does the most to help his team ensure victory, and the guy who is most composed and focused.
Let's take a look at some numbers for this year's 2011-2012 NBA season.
1 Kobe Bryant, S 28.1
2 Kevin Durant, SF 27.9
3 LeBron James, SF 26.8
4 Kevin Love, PF 26.5
5 Russell Westbrook, PG 24.4
6 Dwyane Wade, SG 22.6
Based on these scoring averages we can get a good feel for who is producing offensively. But these number mean nothing if the teams overall record is not unsatisfactory. I mean what good does it do to be one of the leading scorers in the league but have a bad team record. So let's take a look at what the team records are.
LA Lakers 35-22
OKC Thunder 40-15
MIA Heat 40-15
MIN Timberwolves 25-32
These are the team standing for the players mentioned above in the leading scorer positions. However this does tell us exactly who the best basketball player is in the NBA today. We can however take a narrow it down to the top three scorers; evaluate their team records and their individual performance night in and night out. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, these are the best basketball players in the NBA today based on the statistics. Which of these players would you say is the best basketball player in the NBA today? And based of of the number shown how can you determine and prove your choice?
I personally love Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James altogether. Each one of these juggernauts brings some unique and flavorful personality with them on the court. LeBron James' athleticism is insane as he can run and move with the best of his sport at the same time being a very large and strong man. Kevin Durant can be deemed as the new beast in the NBA and he brings a level of intense play mixed with finesse and agility that is unheard of for a man his size and length. And last but not least Kobe Bryant who the closest thing to Michael Jordan of our time, he never ceases to take our breath away with his dazzling and amazing shots. Although he suffered a serious injury at the beginning of this year he has continued to put on show stopping performances and knocked down ridiculous jump shots.
The question is who is the best basketball player? And my final answer is going to have to be that Kevin Durant is the best basketball player for this '11-12' NBA season.
