How to Change from a Partnership to an LLC
- 1). Obtain the proper LLC Articles of Organization document from your state Department of Commerce.
- 2). Fill out the Articles of Incorporation form with all requested information about your business. Typical information for the form includes your business name, business purpose, principle office address, the names of the initial members and the registered agent that will receive legal documents.
- 3). New York and Arizona require that you publish a notice in the local newspaper stating your intent to start an LLC. If you live elsewhere, inquire about this requirement at your state Department of Commerce.
- 4). File your Articles of Incorporation documents at the instructed address and pay the filing fee.
