Casares - For An Unforgettable Spanish Honeymoon

To partake of the bounty nature has blessed Casares with, the best way is to stay in a romantic casa on the verdant Casares hills.
These casas are the perfect location for a honeymoon, spa weekend break, romantic getaway or a relaxing holiday.
God has made some places exclusively for romance.
And when it comes to Casares, the Almighty seems to be a bit more benevolent on this Spanish hamlet, located in the unspoiled Andalusian countryside.
This lovely, white village over the mountains is a picture postcard village with a population of just three thousand and a view that is worthy of a lengthy soak in.
There are the sugar cubes, piled precariously high, nudging the remnants of Moorish civilization.
For the uninitiated, it is hard to believe that this enchanting village is just nine miles from the crowds of the Mediterranean coast, and yet, it has succeeded in keeping its existence a secret, holding off the army of camera-wielding tourists.
Its achievement has been bliss for the handful who drop in, and take away memories that are etched out for ever.
Journey to Casares is as rewarding as the town itself.
If traveling by air, you can book a flight to Malaga, the nearest international airport, and then take a car to Casares, which will take a little more than an hour to reach there.
A major chunk of your journey will be along the coast, enabling you to breathe in the refreshing Mediterranean air.
Beyond Estepona, a minor road will lead you into the undulating hills, where Casares is nestled, clinging tenaciously to a steep hillside, below a castle.
You will travel on a road weaving its way laboriously over the verdant hills.
Once in Casares, you can have a splendid view of the verdant hills around.
If the sky is clear, you can even see the beaches and the Mediterranean Sea.
Climb the narrow alleys, gently holding the hands of your beloved, weaving your way around the central plaza.
There are constant excuses for stopping as you climb - white balconies, courtyards and chat with the locals.
Keep climbing to reach the top of the town, some 1,400 feet above sea level.
You will see an old fortress here and a derelict church, as well as another chance to have a marvelous view.
Watch for peregrine falcons and kestrels soaring through the air.
Inside the town, you can visit the House of Blas Infante, which has been converted into a museum.
Blas Infante was an Andalusist nationalist leader who was born in Casares in 1885 and executed by the Franco regime at the start of the Spanish Civil war.
There is a village church of San Sebastian, a small whitewashed place that blends harmoniously with the houses all around it.
The church, having stained glass windows and a wall-mounted altar, is a welcome change from the massive gothic cathedrals.
To partake of the bounty nature has blessed Casares with, the best way is to stay in a romantic casa on the verdant Casares hills.
These casas are the perfect location for a honeymoon, spa weekend break, romantic getaway or a relaxing holiday.
These casas are private territory, surrounded by tropical gardens, pampering the guests with private pools, spa treatments, sauna, hammam, gym and tennis court.
These casas, along with the unspoiled nature, make Casares one of the premiere romantic holiday destinations in Spain.
