    • Most Sony equipment operates on any voltage around the world, ranging from 100 to 250 VAC. In many areas, the wall sockets have three pins. The power cord that Sony provides with the equipment in any of these countries could have a "Sony 3-pin power connector" at the end of the cord.

    Component Plugs

    • Many parts inside electronic equipment plug into motherboards or other circuits to provide power, such a cooling fans. If such a device needs three pins to operate inside a Sony product, the plug or jack can be referred to as a "Sony 3-pin power connector," even if the device itself is not manufactured by Sony. But the plug probably has an official name to specifically identify it.
