Northwestern College Entrance Requirements

    Traditional Undergraduate Requirements

    • You are considered a traditional student if you are transitioning to college following your last year of high school. Your application to Northwestern is evaluated based on merit and ranked against other applicants. Minimum high school coursework should include four years of English, three years of math, natural science and social sciences and two years of a foreign language. In addition, you are required to submit official transcripts from your high school, a church reference, academic reference and SAT or ACT scores. The application fee is $20 and applicants receive a decision within three weeks.

    Transfer Students

    • If you apply to Northwestern after attending another college or university, you enter as a transfer student. Transfer students are required to submit an academic and church reference, official high school and college transcripts, along with the $20 application fee. SAT or ACT scores are required unless you have accumulated more than 12 college credits after high school. You are allowed to receive transfer credit for grades C and better. The caveat is for holders of an Associates in Arts degree: Since Northwestern requires every student to take some Bible courses, a typical associate degree will not satisfy the school's general education requirements.

    Graduate Program Requirements

    • You can apply to Northwestern's graduate programs after receiving a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. As of March 2011, the school requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 and GRE or GMAT test scores that are at or above the 50th percentile. In lieu of GRE or GMAT scores, you can submit a reference from an employer, professor or supervisor that speaks to your academic aptitude. The application fee is $50 and must be submitted with two letters of recommendation, essay responses as described in the application and official college transcripts.

    Continuing Education Requirements

    • Northwestern College has a program called FOCUS, designed for adults who have attended college but never received a degree. There is a $30 application fee for FOCUS applicants. As of March 2011, the FOCUS application requires the submission of two essays (minimum of 200 words each), college transcripts or high school transcripts if college transcripts are not available.
