Christina Milian feat. Joe Buddens - Whatever You Want

About.com Rating

R&B diva Christina Milian follows up her smash single "Dip It Low" with another crowd-pleaser. Island/Def Jam records has wisely commissioned- count them, 12 - yes, 12 different remixes for this song ranging from R&B to House to Tech-House.

The Cipha Sounds Remix follows the current trend started by Kevin Lyttle and Rupee with up-tempo, synth-laden R&B. The bassline is hard and crashing while the synthesizers are bright and help to move the remix along.

There's not a lot of change throughout the mix but that doesn't seem to zap the energy of the remix making it perfect for Rhythmic Top 40 mixshows.

JJ Flores is on board once again after turning Christina's last single into a chart-topper. This time JJ has made a variety of mixes to please several different genres. First up is his Old School Mix which is downtempo House much like his aforementioned mix of "Dip It Low," but this time the bassline is a bit chunkier with more of a "Funk-feel" to it. The JJ Flores Club Mix is the best of all of the mixes on this disc! JJ goes the Filtered-Disco route this time which really enhances the feel of the song. He relies heavily on much of the original instrumentation such as the horns (which really catapult the mix along). The energy of this mix is unbelievable and should pack your floor after the first listen. JJ's Dub is much like his Club Mix (sans most of the vocals) with some harder keyboard sounds, which would make it great for playing right before you play his Club Mix.

The Roy Davis & Tomi Deep Soul Mix is more for the Classic House crowd as it's more subdued with it's E-smoove-like bassline and the horns from the original version turned down a notch.

Their mix also deletes Joe's rap which to me is bad move as Joe's part really brings the song to life. Jack D. Elliot's Amped Remix is just that - the original version with a heavier bassline and some special effects. This is another remix that would work great on Rhythmic Top 40 mix-shows. Lastly, Kriya & Velez's Mix is very Tech-House with it's rapid-fire bassline and stutter-effects. This mix is similar to JJ Flores' Club Mix as it relies heavily on the horns from the original version. Unfortunately, while I like the mix, it comes off as sounding too fast at times which is why I rank it behind JJ Flores' Club Mix.

All in all, this is a great package of remixes that has something for just about everyone. If Christina keeps giving us remixes like these she should have no problem keeping a large fan-base.
