Roll on Bedliners - Step by Step
Roll on bedliners are so much cheaper than professional spray on bed liners.
We painted on a bed liner on an old truck and have been using it for two years.
The bed liner made our truck look far better and it's holding up well.

There are a few tricks you might want to know though.
Here's the step-by-step method...
1.
Put together your bed liner kit.
You can actually buy a bed liner kit with most of the supplies you need already included or put the supplies together yourself.
You'll need paint, cleaning supplies, masking materials, plus some sanding items.
A tip: a gallon of paint will not cover a full size truck.
Get an extra quart.
Getting started right is very important.

Clean it first.
It may be a temptation to start laying on the paint right off.
Don't do it.
Cleaning must come first.
See, old wax or grease on the surface will surely cause the paint to peel.
We don't need that.
So, clean first.
The trick is getting the right cleaner.
You'll want a grease and wax remover...
3.
Sand, but not much..
..
Why? Because you want a scratched surface so the paint can really stick.
So you want a really coarse abrasive pad or really coarse sandpaper.
No fine finishing needed or wanted.
After sanding, you'll rinse good and dry.
Then do some good masking to keep the paint where you want it.
4.
Roll it on..
Actually putting the paint on is about as easy as could be.
This is fun paint to use.
Why? It's so thick and heavy, it will cover almost anything.
As it dries it levels out and looks just like it was sprayed on...
no roller marks, no brush marks either.
Putting the paint on is fast and easy if you have the surface prepared properly.
5.
Let it dry...
It takes just a couple of days for the paint to harden.
You can use it before then, but just for light things.
After a couple of days, it's dried and ready to use.
