Wedding Knife and Cake Server Set - How to Choose

The Tradition of cutting the cake dates back to the Roman Empire when the groom would break a loaf of bread over his wife's head.
While I don't recommend you do this with a fully frosted wedding cake, the symbolism can be kept with minimal mess.
Whether you decide to feed each other maturely or stuff cake and frosting into each other's mouths is up to you.
But I do suggest an elegant knife and cake server set.
A nice set of dishes for this momentous occasion is a must.
It certainly beats just grabbing the nearest plastic knife and fork.
Here are a few things to consider when selecting a cake server set: 1) What server will match your cake style? Serving dishes come in many shapes and styles.
Be sure to peruse a good variety before selecting your server.
You want to find one that matches your specific wedding cake.
2) Make sure to get the right shape of cake server for your wedding cake.
For a round cake you'll need a triangular server, for a square cake a square server.
3) Consider what you'll be doing with the set after the wedding.
You may want to select a cake serving set that will go into immediate use in your home.
In this case you'll want something that matches your other kitchenware.
Or you may want to wrap then in bubble-wrap and save them as heirlooms.
An elegant knife and server set makes a very cute mantle piece tied with a white ribbon and displayed in front of a photograph from the wedding.
4) Quality.
Not all cake serving sets are created equal.
A full tang stainless steal bladed knife and server are a good way to go.
Serving sets made from precious metal are usually high quality but not always.
Plastic handles usually conceal a half tang or less blade.
These will not last long in use.
5) Price.
Gold plated serving sets obviously carry an aesthetic appeal, but will run you a lot more.
Determine your budget and then find the best quality and nicest looking set in your price range.
6) Personalization.
Some cake serving sets come with free engraving, some have it as an added option.
Determine what you'll want on your set and don't forget to check the spelling once you receive your set! 7) Remember that the small details are what will set your wedding and reception apart and stand out in the mind and memory of you and your guests.
Plan early to avoid being stressed or time pressed.
Selecting all of your wedding and reception details can be a lot of fun, so enjoy making plans for your big day.
And good luck with that wedding server set.
