Things to See and Do in the Spa City of Bath in February
Bath offers one of the best locations for a spa break in the UK, as it is the number one spa destination in the country. Not only does it have an extensive range of Bath spa breaks which include a plethora of relaxing treatments, but it also has its historical roots as a spa destination to discover.
You can enjoy not only ultra modern and multi-million pound Thermae Spa, but also visit the city's original well preserved Roman Baths, as both spas use the city's same underground natural geothermal springs as the source of their special warm spa waters. Today, visitors can have a guided tour of the ancient Roman Baths and the Georgian pump room which adjoins the world famous spa.
Bath has a rich cultural heritage and is widely regarded as a centre for cultural events in the South West. The month of February is always a great time to visit this famous city, as there are plenty of things to see and do. Here are a few forthcoming events and exhibitions to add to your to do list for February.
On Sunday 12th February you can see a special performance by Gary Ryan, one of the world's leading classical guitarists, who will be performing with the Bath Philharmonia in the Theatre Royal. The concert will feature an evening programme of popular classics like: Intermezzo by Mascagni and Symphony No. 4 (Italian) by Mendelssohn, Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar by Rodrigo, Clair de Lune by Debussy and Intermezzo by Mascagni and Symphony No. 4 (Italian) by Mendelssohn. Next is a very special exhibition taking place at the Museum of East Asian Art, which hosts one of the most unique arrays of East and Southeast Asian art and cultural collections found outside of their countries of origin. From the 25th February you will be able to view one such collection, an exhibition called €Porcelain Jewels: Figures from the Hirado Mikawachi Kilns of Japan'.
This exhibition offers a chance to see a range of different, special figures produced at the Hirado Mikawachi kilns in Japan and it's the first time this exhibition has come to Bath, so it will be one not to miss.
