Most Effective Way to Remove Back Hair

    Waxing or Sugaring

    • This method of hair removal involves spreading warm wax over the skin (or a sugar, lemon juice and water mix for sugaring), covering the substance with cloth or muslin strips and pulling the hair out from the root. For many people who have never tried waxing or sugaring, pain is a common concern. While it is not exactly pleasant to have hair removed root and all, most people find that the benefits outweigh the discomfort. Removing hair from the root means that regrowth will be slower. The hair that grows back is often finer and more sparse. Those who choose this method to remove unwanted back hair can usually enjoy two to three weeks between treatments. It is recommended that a professional assist with this method, as the process is likely to be quicker and more effective.

    Laser Hair Removal

    • A method only available to the general public since the 1990s, laser hair removal uses intense pulsed light to target darkly pigmented body hair. It has been FDA-approved to significantly reduce the amount of hair growth. In some cases, the hair removal can be permanent. However, laser treatment usually requires a series of sessions. It can also be a lengthy treatment when dealing with an area as large as the back. If you are interested in this option, talk to a highly trained professional about the procedure. It is important to point out that not everyone is a viable candidate for laser hair removal. Ideal candidates are fair of skin with dark hair, as darker skin is prone to blistering and discoloration with this treatment. Those who make good candidates can enjoy a minimum of two months between sessions.

    Electrolysis

    • Electrolysis is to date the only method of hair removal that has proven to be permanent. Active hair follicles are destroyed with treatment using galvanic (chemical reaction) electrolysis, radio frequency or a combination of the two. Like laser treatment, electrolysis usually requires more than one session. This is because the treatment only works on active hair follicles; resting follicles will not be affected by the process. It has the tendency to be time-consuming when dealing with larger areas such as the back, and can also be painful. The upside is that once all active follicles are addressed, the hair is eradicated completely.
