The "Dillo - CapMetro Downtown Shuttle
There's no need to walk when the downtown trolley, known as the 'Dillo (for armadillo) hits most of the downtown tourist spots as well as providing commuter service in the downtown area.
These cute historic reproductions of trolley cars will take you to, from, and through downtown Austin from the north end of Congress Avenue to south of Lady Bird Lake or east and west including the 6th Street Entertainment District.
'Dillo Routes:
The Congress Avenue 'Dillo (Route 450) can get you to places along Congress Avenue from the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum all the way to Lady Bird Lake as well as a little jaunt over to the vicinty of the Long Center and the Palmer Events Center. On the First Thursday of each month the Congress Avenue 'Dillo goes all the way down to South Congress for SoCo Shopping.
The 6th Street 'Dillo (Route 451) travels along 5th and 6th Streets and can be used to get to and from the Warehouse District, the Austin Visitors Center, Republic Square, and Whole Foods.

'Dillo Fares:
If it's been a while since you visited Austin you need to know that the 'Dillos, once free to ride, cost 50 cents now. Drop 50 cents in the farebox as you board and you'll receive a 'Dillo pass good for 2 hours. Just swipe the farebox on the next 'Dillo you board until the time is up.
The 'Dillo pass is good only on the 'Dillo shuttles. However, Capitol Metro day passes or 31-Day passes are good on the 'Dillo.
