Early 2010 MLB Projections
Opening day is only a few weeks away.
Here are some early projections on who will win it all.
AL East - Has to be the Yankees.
They seemed to improve while the Red Sox took a step back.
The Red Sox refused to go above and beyond with their spending this year, and it will hurt them in October.
A perfect example is the Yankees went and got Curtis Granderson, who isn't an elite player, but much better than the Red Sox CF counterpart, the 37-year old Mike Cameron.
AL Central - Should be the White Sox with the addition of Jake Peavy and JJ Putz.
The Twins do have Morneau and Mauer, but not as much pitching.
That is why they will lose the AL Central.
AL West - Seattle Mariners.
I'm drinking the Koolaid on the Cliff Lee deal.
Pitching should win this division, but I expect the Rangers to give them a run, and possibly steal a wild card from the typical AL East wild card winner.
NL East - Atlanta Braves upset the Philadelphia Phillies.
I expect big contributions from the young players including Jason Heyward to lead this team back to the NL East crown.
The pitching is there as well if Hudson can pitch in 20 games or more, and this is the year they put it back together.
NL Central - St.
Louis Cardinals.
Albert Pujols will not let this team lose the Central.
The Reds will be a media favorite because of a few pitchers including Aroldis Chapman, but the Cardinals are still the team to beat.
Chapman will take a year or two to develop into the pitcher he is paid to be if it will happen.
NL West - Colorado Rockies.
This was the hottest team in baseball after ex-manager Clint Hurdle was fired with a 72-42 record to end the year.
They're doing it the right way, developing their own players including their best player, Troy Tulowitzki.
