Negative Stigma of the Truck Wash Industry - Illegal Alien Employee Assumptions

Okay so, I've been in and around the truck wash business for most of my career.
I'm going to make some comments here today, and I don't want you think I'm a racist, and I want to know up front I happen to be a white male in his 40s.
Nevertheless, the truck wash business is labor intensive, and it's hard to get a spoiled white kid, even from the lower or middle-class to come in and work all day cleaning trucks.
Look, it's hard work, it's a backbreaker, and you are sore and tired, soaked, and completely wore out at the end of the day.
Suffice it to say, I have cleaned enough trucks in my day to know this.
Indeed, I've been in truck terminal yards with 3000 pieces of equipment with two teams knowing we wouldn't finish, and working 36 hours straight with an 18 inch soft bristle brush trying to stay ahead of the power washer.
Perhaps it's for this reason that we find more Hispanic folks cleaning trucks, they aren't afraid of hard work.
White kids think that they want to take the easy road, they'll be glad to work at your truck wash, as long as they can be a manager or cashier working in a dry, easy, and air-conditioned environment.
Again, don't call me a racist, but I've been around the industry enough to know what I know.
That's just the way it is.
The only challenge with all this is that if you have Hispanic workers, there are occasionally people who might come to the conclusion that everyone you are hiring is an illegal alien, or an illegal immigrant worker.
Yes, if you own a truck wash, I'm sure you know that isn't true because you can't go around hiring illegal workers and stay in business, they'll come shut you down, and the fines you'll pay will be serious, and the second time they will throw your butt in jail, which is probably where you belong if you don't follow the rules of our country.
Because of this negative stigma of truck washes and the truck wash industry as it stands it is important that you let everyone know especially all your customers, those that are union drivers, or those who are independent over the road truck drivers driving their own truck that you only hire American citizens, or people with work visas.
If you don't do this, what you'll find is there is quite a patriotic group amongst the union drivers, and it's an especially hard-core group in the trucking sector when it comes to owner operator drivers or independents.
What we did was we made a note inside of our truck wash by the lobby that everyone working is in our country legally, next to the "thank you for your business," sign.
This simple sign will do wonders for your business, and the word will get out, people will talk about you at the truck stops, and the drivers will feel confident knowing they are supporting a business that aligns themselves with their way of thinking.
I hope this makes sense, and you will please think on it.
