How to Trap Minnows in a Minnow Basket

1). Locate a connection loop or ring on the end of the wire minnow trap.
2). Tie a small diameter rope to the loop or ring on the end of the wire trap. Attach a length of rope that will allow the basket to be suspended in the water and tied securely to a branch, root, tree or rock as an anchor.
3). Open the minnow trap and place bait inside to attract minnows swimming in the water. Place bread, shrimp heads or pieces of hot dog in the trap. Close the trap securely.
4). Place the wire minnow basket in the water. Choose shallow, slower moving waters out of the direct current where minnows are located.
5). Leave the wire minnow basket undisturbed to allow minnows to swim into the trap for the bait. Check the trap daily and remove minnows for fishing.
