How to Get Incorporated in Maryland
- 1). Fill out the appropriate form from the Department of Assessments and Taxation. Choose the form based upon the type of corporation you are starting. Please note that the state of Maryland recommends that you contact an attorney, an accountant or other professional before filing any forms.
- 2). Insert the form and check for $120 into the envelope. Add $50 if you want to expedite the process. Tax-exempt corporations filing under IRS Code Sections 501(c)(3), (4), or (6) are charged an additional $50 fee.
- 3). Mail the envelop to State Department of Assessments and Taxation, Charter Division, 301 W. Preston Street; 8th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21201-2395.
- 4). Register your trade name, or the name of the company with the State. The form is available through the Department of Assessments and Taxation's website.
