What Type of Coconut Oil Is Best for Acne?

Any type of coconut oil (except the hydrogenated type) is good for acne treatment.
But if you want to find the best type for acne treatment, you must first understand the contributing factors to acne.
Most people seem to know only one thing - oily skin is acne-prone.
But in fact, that's only one of the factors that causes acne.
Overgrowth of bacteria and excessive toxic buildup cause acne too.
You're probably aware of bacteria, but you may not know that toxins in our body can cause acne to break out too.
That said, you need to choose the type of coconut oil that can best help you stop the growth of bacteria and purge toxins out of your body.
I strongly recommend virgin coconut oil.
This type is usually marketed as extra-virgin.
But they actually mean the same quality.
Why the virgin type? The oil of coconut generally carries the antibacterial lauric acid, caprylic acid, capric acid and myristic acid.
And of these fatty compounds, lauric acid is the most potent.
And since virgin coconut oil contains the greatest amount of lauric acid (about 50%), it naturally is the best type for controlling acne bacteria and other local bacteria that may also have a share in causing acne.
As for purging toxins, medium-chain fatty acids like lauric, caprylic and capric acids, and short-chain fatty acid like caproic acid are what make the oil of coconut detoxifying.
And virgin coconut oil possesses all of them.
The refined or fractionated type may contain one or two types of the fatty acids, which are of course less detoxifying.
Considering the facts above, virgin coconut oil is best for acne treatment.
But you have to get yourself prepared for a more severe acne breakout.
What do I mean? Because it's more detoxifying than any other types, virgin coconut oil tends to draw more toxins up to the surface of your skin and hence, can result in more whiteheads or pimples breaking out in the process of treating your acne.
Of course, if you have less toxin building up in your body and underneath your skin, your acne will probably clear up nicely few days after using the virgin oil without getting any severe breakout.
But if you have more toxins accumulated inside, you're more likely to encounter the healing crisis - your acne will get worse before it gets better with the virgin tropical oil.
