Gimme a Gimlet

On the 4th of July -- or any hot summer day -- this special recipe for Gimme a Gimlet, a cilantro-scented gimlet, from Province at The Westin Phoenix Downtown will make a refreshing treat for the adults at your gathering.

Prepared with either Death's Door Vodka or gin, fresh cucumber, cilantro and lime makes this drink 'green' in every sense of the word. The first gimlet descriptions date back to 1928 and shortly after the gimlets were popularized by renowned proposition gambler and storyteller "Hong Kong" Freddie Wong. As the gimlet was director Edward D. Wood, Jr.'s favorite cocktail, he often used the aliases "Telmig Akdov" (Vodka Gimlet spelled backwards) for his adult novels. Now you have some American history trivia to go along with your cocktail!
