How to Create a Business Presence on the Internet
- 1). Create a website to promote and display the basic information about your business. Select a domain name for the website. Choose a name that is close to your business name or describes the product or service that you sell. Hire a web designer to get the website up and running. Set up the website so that it is easy for you to add pictures or make changes to the wording.
- 2). Enter the basic information for your business on all of the online sites that you set up. Include your business name, contact information and email address. Create a catchy logo or saying that describes your business. Create a short description that explains what your business is about.
- 3). Select a list of about five keywords that describe your business. Choose keywords that web surfers will type into a search engine to find you. Keep this list of keywords handy and use them in the copy that you write for your website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or blog.

- 7). Create a simple blog that shares information for your customers. Offer some free advice or information they can use. A blog will promote you as an authority on a subject. Set up a free blog at Wordpress, Blogspot or Tumblr.
- 8). Develop a monthly or quarterly newsletter to send to your customers. Keep a copy of your newsletter on your website. Create a "Subscribe to Newsletter" link on the website to gain more customers.
- 9). Put your business on Google Maps. Sign up for a free place-holder on Google's Maps. Follow the instructions after signing up. Add pictures, business information and a short description of your business.
