How to Flame Cut Glass
- 1). Set the bottle into your bottle-cutting jig and apply pressure to score the bottle along the line where you want to cut the glass. Make sure you create an even score all around the bottle.
- 2). Stand the bottle up on top of the turntable and make sure it is steady and flat on the surface of the turntable.
- 3). Put on safety goggles and hold the torch so it is 4 inches away from the glass. Light the torch and direct the flame just above the line you scored previously.
- 4). Turn the turntable slowly with one hand while keeping the torch steady with the other. Keep moving the turntable until the flame has worked all the way through the glass.
- 5). Try to lift the top of the bottle up and away from the rest of the bottle. If you meet any resistance, apply more flame to the glass until the pieces separate easily.
