Is a HDMI Cable Just a Cable Like Any Other?

HDMI is an acronym for High definition Multimedia Interface. This type of cable is used for audio and visual devices. They are modern cables used where users want high definition vision from their televisions or high quality sound from their high definition surround stereos. These cables are the latest in cable technology and allow the transfer raw uncompressed digital data from one HDMI compliant source to another compatible electronic device. It is important to use an HDMI cable to get the best full picture quality from your HDTV and the same goes with your HD music system when it comes to the best quality of sound.
The HMI 1.4 is the latest version of HDMI however all you need to know is that all HDMI cables perform the same function and that whether it is an HDMI 4K or and HDMI cable 2.o or HDMI ultra HD the functionality is the same. What matters is which device you will be using the cable for. HDMI 1.4 are used for PSPs and home theatres and other devices that require extremely high video resolutions that go far beyond today's 1080p systems. 4K is short for 4,000 lines wide by 2,000 lines high or approximately four times the resolution of a 1080p display.

HDMI 2.0 is the successor to the HDMI 1.4a/b standard. This the standard generally used today, The reason is that 4K Ultra HD televisions require much more bandwidth to perform at their best. Since 4K Ultra HD is four times the resolution of 1080p, the current HD standard, it means there's a need to handle extra data going to and fro.

HDMI 3D is used in devices that display in 3D.

Once you've bought your HD electronic device, you need to find out which HDMI cables are available. This includes the length and the cable type that you will require.
