ATV Trails in Potter County, Pennsylvania
- Potter County is the home to eight State Parks, including the Susquehannock State Forest, which has one of the longest ATV trails in the state. Because of the undeveloped nature of Potter County, it is a haven for outdoor sports enthusiasts interested in hiking, biking, or riding ATVs among the forests of the Alleghany Mountains. Visitors to this area can enjoy several ATV trails, the most popular of which is the state run park.
- The state of Pennsylvania owns and operates a 43-mile trail for ATVs during the summer months. By far the most popular destination for ATV riders in Potter County, this trail is located south of Denton Hill State Park. ATVs that access this trail cannot exceed 58 inches in width and 1,200 lbs. Your ATV must be registered with the state and riders must possess personal insurance in order to ride the trails. The trail is usually open from the end of May until the end of September. As of 2011, there is no fee to ride these trails, but you can contact the Susquehannock State Forest for more information.
- Majestic Trails is located in Smethport, Pennsylvania, amidst the Alleghany Mountains. With more than 940 acres of privately-owned land, Majestic's trails include two loops with over 41 total miles of mountainous terrain. This ATV trail system is considered to be challenging; however, children are welcome to enjoy what the trails have to offer. Majestic also has two Motocross tracks, one for adults and one for children. The adult track is one mile long with numerous table tops as well as singles and doubles. The park also offers a trail specifically for dirt bikes, in an effort to cut down dirt bike congestion on the ATV trails.
- Located in Austin, Pennsylvania, just 19 miles from Port Allegany and 56 miles from Bradford, is the Austin Campground. It borders the Susquehannock State Forest, and provides access to the State Forest's extensive ATV trail. The campground itself, however, offers ATV and snowmobile trails right from its grounds. These ATV trails eventually connect with those inside the Susquehannock State Forest. This campground offers ATV riders accommodations and ready access to ATV trails through one of Pennsylvania's largest natural areas.
- Located in the Sproul State Forest in the adjacent Clinton County, the Whiskey Springs ATV Riding Area is open during the summer and winter seasons. It usually closes during the fall and spring hunting seasons to prevent injuries and fatalities associated with hunting. Whiskey Springs permits ATVs that do not exceed 58 inches in width and 1,200 lbs.
