Internet Marketing 101: Newbie, Learn to Earn

Introduction
For those of you new to Internet marketing, I know that you are probably overwhelmed with all of the so-called "easy money online" pitches and programs available out there. I know how you feel--I was once there myself. You know that you have the potential to make a lot of money on the Internet, but you just don't know where to start and are apprehensive about spending your hard-earned money on such programs. Perhaps you have already spent a fortune on programs that promised the moon but gave no results, were hard to understand and implement, or were just downright fraudulent. I'm sorry if this is in fact the case.

Well, I am here to help. In the following, I am going introduce you, albeit briefly, to several effective ways for the Internet marketing newbie to start making money online quickly, easily, consistently, and safely, with little to no out-of-pocket expense. These methods are field tested and proven, easy to implement, and have the potential for big payouts. As well, you can easily learn the ropes of Internet marketing with these strategies, which will be essential as you progress into much grander marketing schemes.

1) "Insider Secrets." First and foremost, for anyone interested in making money online (whether via niche, affiliate marketing or otherwise) you absolutely need to purchase Derek Gehl's "The 'Insider Secrets' to Marketing Your Business on the Internet." This is the most comprehensive and complete course (10 lbs of manuals, CDs and video) on Internet marketing available. Everything that you need to know is in this course. From finding a niche to building a website to search engine optimization to article marketing...it is all right here. From the materials in this course alone I was able to double my Internet marketing income almost instantly and then subsequently triple it a short time later.

I highly recommend this product, and those of you familiar with me and my writing well know that I don't recommend many products!

2) Report production. This is one of the easiest online businesses to start up. It'll cost you nothing up front (but time) and you can advertise your products online for free. This entails, essentially, your researching a particular topic that you are interested in, e.g., "Crate Training Chihuahuas," and then producing a short report on it (usually running from 10-30 pages). Upon completion of your finished report, you can advertise it on the free online forums (especially those pertaining to your niche if you want to maximize profits), e.g., http://www.thefreeadforum.com, or in the free online classifieds.

To learn how to produce and market effective reports, don't waste your coin on anything other than Kevin Riley's "Recipe for Quick and Easy Product Production." This is a detailed how-to guide on the steps involved in producing a report. From idea to completion, you will learn all you need to know right here in this e-book.

Some benefits of report production: You can complete a report in a matter of hours, you have no inventory to keep up with (file is digital), cost nothing to replicate, no shipping hassles (shipped via e-mail), etc.

Negatives: None that I can think of...

3) Affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is a marketing method whereby you get paid for recommending someone else's product (via your website, e-mail, forums, word of mouth, etc.), generally receiving a very high commission for each product sold (some pay out at around 75%!)

Essentially, you find a product that you yourself have used or one that interest you--one that you feel comfortable recommending (e.g., the "Insider Secrets" course mentioned above). You then market it via one of the above mentioned venues. Affiliate marketing works best on personal or business websites, though it is very effective in opt-in email campaigns as well.

Affiliate marketing has the following benefits: Very high payout (typically) for sales, no inventory or shipping to worry about (the producer of the product does all of this for you), thousands of products to choose from. My advice though, is to choose your products wisely because if someone purchases based on your recommendation, they will forever associate that with you (whether good or bad, though primarily when something goes wrong).

Negatives: There is a lot of competition in the arena of affiliate marketing and not all products are created equal.

4) Bum marketing. This marketing strategy is a methodological variant of article marketing. Before you can bum market, you must first have a niche product available, e.g., a report that you have created or an affiliate program that you have signed on with. You then do a keyword search, say on Google, for keywords and phrases that are low competition keywords (meaning that, as a good rule, 1000 or less instances of the keywords or phrases show up in the search).

Subsequently, you write an article utilizing those keywords and have the article submitted to the online article directories, e.g., ezinearticles.com. In your author bio, you will include links back to your website, on which potential customers will be able to learn more about your products and purchase them.

Most article directories do not allow authors to place affiliate links anywhere in the actual article or even in the bio space, so avoid doing so or your article likely won't be published. Trust me; links in the author bio to your website (or blog) are sufficient.

Benefits of bum marketing: Easy to do, no costs involved (except time to write the article).

Negatives: You have to have a niche product. You have to write the article to begin with. Presupposes that you have a website or blog (websites can be obtained cheaply or even free these days and blogs are free).

Conclusion
In my experience, I have found the above methodologies to be quite effective (I still use all of them today, in fact, in my Internet marketing campaigns). As well, they are easy enough to utilize such that someone entirely new to Internet marketing can begin to generate an income within days of learning these strategies and applying them.

Give one or more of the above a try Newbie...I think that you'll be presently surprised! Have fun and good luck!
