How to Write a Classification Essay on Annoying Shoppers

    • 1). Review the project details. Whether you have been assigned specific guidelines to follow or are writing the essay on your own, you should at least have a specific length determined for the essay and a deadline by which the paper should be completed. This gives you some basic rules to follow and helps you stay more organized while working on your essay.

    • 2). Jot down notes and ideas. Brainstorming is an important first step for writing any type of essay, and helps generate ideas and thoughts to include in your work. Come up with interesting questions to answer, such as why people shop differently, what makes people shop in a certain manner, and what changes can be made to improve the shopping experience for everyone.

    • 3). Write the opening section of the essay. For any essay, there should be an introduction, body, and conclusion, each section properly written to ensure the essay reads fluently and maintains the reader's interest throughout. You need to create a thesis statement, which is the most important part of the introduction of your essay. For an essay on annoying shoppers, your thesis statement could read, "There are three common types of annoying shoppers we deal with: rushed shoppers, slow shoppers and angry shoppers."

    • 4). Write the body of the essay. For a classification essay, you need to include at least a few different categories on which to write, and should include the categories offered in the thesis statement. In this case, it would be shoppers who rush and are always in a hurry, shoppers who take too long and hold up the line, and the shoppers who are rude and angry. Remember to add detailed content to each section, including poignant points and important facts for each.

    • 5). Write the closing section of your essay. The closing should also contain interesting information and should summarize the information offered throughout the essay. Maintain the attention and interest of readers and end the essay neatly, without just cutting it off.

    • 6). Review your work. When writing an essay, edit your work and write at least a few different drafts before presenting your final work. Make sure any quotes or stated facts are properly referenced, all information is relevant to the topic in question, and that you have used a single organizing principle, as well as valid examples of things that fit into each category, which is necessary for a clarification essay.
