Everyone knows that commenting on blogs is one of the best ways to: * Increase awareness of your blog * Increase your technorati ranking * Get new visitors * Get more commenters Since the start of the month I have focused the majority of my spare time just commenting on blogs.
I have actually gone through the whole list of contestants at Blogging Idol at least twice - commenting the majority of them.
Commenting On Blogs Works! You will notice that from just the first 7 days of July I have already smashed through last months unique traffic well on my way to 5,000 for the month.
The only thing I have changed with my blog is entering Blogging Idol, and increasing my blog commenting.
Here are 10 Simple Tips I Have Found To Maximise Your Comment Results 1.
Start Commenting If you haven't already, make sure that you are actively commenting blogs and getting your blog recognized.

Continually Increase Your Commenting If you are currently commenting on 5 new blogs a day then look at trying to increase this to 10.
Try to always be adding to your commenting schedule.

Add Value To The Post I have found that if I just comment 'Great Post' on a blog then my traffic is quite minimal, however if I read through the post and then comment about my experience with the topic and add value to the post then I start to see an increase in the number of visitors.

Be The First Commenter A first comment that adds value to a post and is on a popular blog can see traffic of 20+ new visitors.
I have many times been lucky enough to be one of the first to post a comment on ProBlogger.
net, JohnChow.
com and a few other high profile blogs and I have seen great results from them.
You can just use you rss reader to let you know when blogs make posts but a lot of bloggers are starting to use programs to help them be the first to subscribe.
Programs like Comment Sniper.

Make Use Of Threaded Comments If you happen to miss out on being the first to comment and a fair few people have commented below you, check and see if the blog has threaded comments.
If you visit blogs like JohnChow.
com you will realise that you can comment on others comments 3 layers deep.
This means that even though 10 people may have commented if you leave a comment about the first comment listed, your comment is then placed second.

Take Advantage Of Top Commenter Plugins One of the ways I find new blogs to comment on is by seeing who the top commenter's are on the blogs I already visit.
I doubt I am the only one who does this, so why not take advantage of it and start working on becoming a top commenter on a couple of smaller blogs to start with and not only get link juice but also some nice traffic.
I am sure the top commenter's on JohnChow.
com are getting a good chunk of traffic for their effort - as they need a heap of comments to make the list.

Look For Blogs With No Follow Removed This one will help in a couple of areas.
It will increase traffic, help with search engine placement and improve your Technorati.
This is an awesome tool for improving awareness and increasing traffic.

Make Use Of Blogs Using The Comment Luv Plugin Comment Luv is quickly becoming one of the most popular wordpress plugins.
What it does is shows the commenter's latest blog post title within the comment.
Obviously the first point here is to keep your eye out for blogs using the plugin, but the other thing I wanted to mention was about your post titles.
If you want maximum visitors from your blog comments you will need to make sure you have great blog titles that capture the readers attention and makes them want to read more.

Become A Frequent Blogger Just like airlines have frequent flyer rewards for people who fly regularly, a lot of bloggers do something similar.
I have found that if I continue to comment of a blog regularly that we start to become familiar with each other and often I have received links in 'Link Love Posts', found myself referenced in a post, or mentioned in some other way that increases my traffic even more.
So don't think of blogging as a one night stand where you just comment and run, but look at it as the forming of a mutually beneficial relationship.
