- To kill fire ants, boil a pot of water on the stove. When the water starts boiling, add cracked black pepper and transport outside. Pour the boiling water over any fire ant hills you find. The water drowns the ants and the smell of the pepper forces surviving ants away.
- Use black pepper to repel the fire ants and keep them away from your home and lawn. Sprinkle the black pepper around any entrance points in your home and in areas where you see ants outside. The smell of the pepper naturally repels the ants.
- An alternative to black pepper is cayenne pepper, which also repels and kills ants. Use cayenne pepper in the same way you would black pepper.
