3 Top Skills Required In Resumes By Today"s Employers

Technology in the workplace is changing fast, and today's job applicant needs to be aware of what skills are important to prospective employers.
In recent years, software skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
were looked upon as additional value skills by most employers.
Now they are viewed as necessities, and prospective applicants are expected to have them.
Such skills should be listed on your resume when applying for a job, even if the job does not require them.
It's always good to let a prospective employer know upfront what all your skills are.
In addition to these skills, the following three can be considered new resume skills that can give you an advantage in the hiring process.
(1) Leadership Experience or Training: Leadership skills are welcome, no matter what kind of job you are looking for.
Proving you have this ability will go a long way in getting you hired.
Companies small to large are always looking for leaders to take them into the future, and the candidate who can point to past, successful leadership roles of almost any kind stand an excellent chance in today's job market.
(2) Social Networking: We're not talking Facebook or Twitter here, where you may be talking about non-work-related things like partying and gossip.
We're talking professional networking skills that can be used in the business world.
Twitter and Facebook can still be used--don't get me wrong--but in a more professional way.
Think clients, accounts, business opportunities.
(3) Bilingual Skills: As the world at large continues to "shrink" because of lightening speed communications and faster and faster transportation systems, the need to speak a second language becomes even more important for the business person.
If you can speak (and read and write) another language, make sure your prospective employer is aware of this.
It may be the difference in whether or not you are hired.
These are the three main skills I wanted to emphasize right now, but others are waiting in the wings and will soon be even more important to the business world.
Bicultural skills and advanced technical skills related to the internet are but two examples.
By focusing your resume on the three skills listed above, you will have a better chance at getting hired in today's fast-paced job market.
