How to Add an External Antenna
- 1). Connect an RG6 coaxial cable to the cylindrical, threaded input port on the back of the TV set. If your antenna has a built-in cable, connect that to the TV and skip to Step 3.
- 2). Connect the other end of the RG6 coaxial cable to the threaded port on the antenna base.
- 3). Mount the antenna at the best location possible for receiving the signal. Place it as high as possible; mount it on the wall using thumbtacks, screws or nails if possible. Keep the cable from crossing other cables, as this can interfere.
- 4). Turn on your TV set and use the remote control to go to the channel menu. Select the Scan option and wait for the TV to use the antenna to scan for all available TV channels.
- 1). Plug a USB cable into an available USB port on the computer. This cable needs to be the correct size to fit the antenna's port. Most antennas come with their own cable.
- 2). Connect the USB cable to the antenna, linking the antennal to the computer.
- 3). Install the driver software for the antenna, which will be on a CD included with the antenna. Load the CD into the computer disc drive and follow the on screen instructions.
- 4). Go to the computer's network settings, which is found in the Start menu on Windows computers and "System Preferences" on Mac computers. Locate the antenna's icon in the window and click on it .
