How to Remove the Lamp From a Sony TV KDFE60A20

    • 1). Turn off your TV and wait a few minutes. You should wait until the cooling fan turns itself off, which will take a couple of minutes.

    • 2). Unplug the TV.

    • 3). Wait for about a half hour before beginning to open your TV. The lamp inside the TV gets very hot, and you must give it time to cool off.

    • 4). Loosen the two screws on the back of the TV. These two screws are in the bottom-left and bottom-right corners of the unit.

    • 5). Remove the front panel by carefully pulling it free from the TV. This is the panel below the display; the two screws on the back of the TV hold it in place.

    • 6). Locate the lamp behind the panel. The lamp is in the center of the area under the panel and it is held in place by a wide, thin cover.

    • 7). Remove the cover by loosening the screw on its right side and pulling the cover out toward you. The left side of the cover should remain attached to the display.

    • 8). Remove the screw holding the lamp in place. The screw is on the left side of the lamp.

    • 9). Pull the lamp out of the display. Use caution: the lamp glass and the casing around the lamp may still be hot. Do not put the old lamp in a plastic bag; put it somewhere safe where it can cool off. The lamp contains mercury, so you must dispose of it safely.
