How to Install a Central Water Filtration System

    • 1). Select a location for the filter: It should be protected from freezing and not exposed to direct sunlight. Allow plenty of space for maintenance access.

    • 2). Cut the water line: Turn off the water supply and open a nearby faucet to drain. Cut the pipe by the distance required. Measure the distance between the shut-off valves and water filter allowing for no kinks. Install shut-off valves on each side of the filter.

    • 3). Install the mounting bracket and fittings. Attach the mounting bracket to the head assembly. Assemble the fittings. Use 4 or 5 wraps of white sealing tape on the fittings. Don't use pipe joint compound. Don't over tighten.

    • 4). Attach the fittings to the water line. Use a compression nut with a brass ferrule.

    • 5). Install the unit. Align the filter assembly making sure the water supply goes to the inlet marked "In." Add a filter and tighten the canister to seal everything.

    • 6). Slowly turn on the water supply and flush.
