- 1). Open the document you want to add page numbers to in Microsoft Word 2003.
- 2). Click on the "View" button and then click on "Header and Footer."
- 3). Click on the place in the header or footer that you want to put your page numbers.
- 4). Click on the "Insert Page Number" button in the "Header and Footer" toolbar that appears whenever you click inside the header or footer. This inserts a page number into the location you clicked on every page in your document.
- 5). As an alternative, click on "Insert" from the main menu bar, then click "Page Numbers".
- 6). Select the position (top or bottom of page) and alignment (right or left) from the pop-up box that appears for where you want your numbers to appear on the page. Click "OK"
