How to Make Lo-Fat Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal With Brown Sugar

- 1). Combine 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup of unsweetened apple juice, 2 tablespoons of currants and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
- 2). Add 3/4 cup of oats and the powdered milk or non-fat milk with mixture; cook over medium heat for approximately 8 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid oatmeal sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- 3). Remove the oatmeal mixture from heat; add the chopped apples and 1 1/2 teaspoons of brown sugar.
- 4). Cover the oatmeal with a lid and let stand for approximately 5 minutes to give the apples time to soften.
- 5). This dish yields about 4 servings. There are about 131 calories per 1/2 cup serving.
