How to Build Your Own Eco Friendly Mouse Traps

    • 1). Cut the neck off of a plastic bottle of medium height (like a soda or water bottle) with a pair of scissors. The hole should be big enough for a mouse to crawl through it, so aim for 1 to 2 inches in diameter.

    • 2). Cut off the bottom of the water bottle so there are two holes--one at the top and one at the bottom of the bottle.

    • 3). Tape your pennies together and then tape them to the edge of the bottle where you cut the neck off.

    • 4). Place some bait at the end of the bottle (by the neck). You can use anything that mice are attracted to, such as cheese or peanut butter.

    • 5). Put your baited bottle on the counter with the baited end (this will also be the side with the coins that act as weights) sticking off slightly.

    • 6). Place a tall, empty trash can directly under the opening of your bottle. When the mouse is tempted by the bait, it will drop a short distance into the trash can. Once this happens, take the mouse outside, far from your home, and release it.
