Scholarships for African American Engineering Students
- The Battelle and National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Collegiate Scholarship Program is available to African American students in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and civil engineering. Students must be NBSE members and be a college junior or senior to apply. As of the 2010-2011 academic school year, the program awarded 14 scholarships of $5,000. Recipients also receive internship opportunities with sponsoring companies.
- The NSBE Caterpillar Corporate Scholarship Program is open to college sophomores, juniors or seniors who are members of NSBE. Applicants must meet or exceed the 2.8 grade point average requirement to be considered for the award. The scholarship is open to students majoring in an engineering-related field such as agricultural engineering, industrial engineering and computer science. As of the 2010-2011 academic school year, the program awarded five scholarships of $2,000.
- African American student members of the National Society of Black Engineers can apply for financial assistance through the CNA Corporate Scholarship. Applicants must meet a minimum 3.0 grade point average requirement and be enrolled in a graduate program for the next academic year. The scholarship is open to students majoring in engineering and related fields. As of the 2010-2011 school year, the scholarship awarded $4,500 to a selected winner.
- The Cummins Inc. Corporate Scholarship is open to African American students who are members of the National Society of Black Engineers. Applicants must meet or exceed the 3.0 grade point average requirement and be a college sophomore or junior. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in working for Cummins Inc., and be willing to participate in an internship. As of the 2010-2011 academic school year, the scholarship awarded $5,000 to selected recipients.
