Steps on How to Empty a Pool Filter

- 1). Disconnect the power supply to the pool pump. Unplug the electrical cord from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker controlling the pump to "Off."
- 2). Close the outlet valve on the bottom of the pool skimmer. This will ensure excess water is not lost while emptying the filter.
- 3). Turn the valve on the waste line to "Open" and water will begin to flow out. The waste line is on the right side of the filter, toward the bottom. Allow the water to drain completely until the filter is empty.
- 4). Close the waste line and reopen the outlet valve on the bottom of the skimmer. Allow the filter tank to fill completely before restoring power to the pool pump.
